Brazilian Man Charged With Illegal Reentry Into The U.S.

BOSTON, MA.- On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the District of Massachusetts returned an indictment charging Rafael De Jesus-Ribeiro, 39, a Brazilian national, with one count of Unlawful Reentry by a Previously Deported Alien.
De Jesus-Ribeiro was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on January 13, 2025, after he was found illegally residing in the Boston, Massachusetts, area. De Jesus-Ribeiro will be arraigned on the charge at a time and date that is to be determined by the federal court in Boston, Massachusetts.

According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and charging information unsealed in the indictment, De Jesus-Ribeiro was previously removed from the United States on January 17, 2019. It is alleged that sometime after his July 2019 removal, De Jesus-Ribeiro illegally reentered the United States without permission or legal authorization.
If convicted at trial, De Jesus-Ribeiro faces up to two years in federal prison, at least one year of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. Upon completion of an imposed sentence, De Jesus-Ribeiro will face immediate deportation proceedings.
