BOSTON, MA.- On Thursday, February 13, 2025, Sary Rath, 39, a Cambodian national and leader of the “Asian Boyz street gang living in Lowell, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge F. Dennis Saylor, IV, to 135 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release on his previously entered guilty plea to federal narcotics violations.

Upon completion of his term of imprisonment, Rath will face immediate deportation proceedings to be removed from the United States.

In October 2024, Rath appeared in federal court in Boston, Massachusetts, and pleaded guilty to one count of Distribution of and Possession with Intent to Distribute 500 Grams or More Of Methamphetamine; and one count of Distribution and Possession with Intent to Distribute 400 Grams or More of Methamphetamine.

According To U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley

According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, an investigation was launched into Rath and the Asian Boyz criminal street gang with the intent to disrupt the manufacturing and distribution of methamphetamine pills, counterfeit pills, to resemble the pharmaceutical branded pills, Adderall, that was impacting Lowell, Massachusetts, and surrounding communities.

The Asian Boyz were supplying a large-scale drug distribution network with homemade counterfeit “Adderall” pills.

On November 11, 2021, Rath was recorded selling over 2,000 counterfeit Adderall pills at $2.00 per pill, or around $4,000 in total. The pills were seized by law enforcement investigators, and it was later confirmed they were pressed methamphetamine and caffeine and manufactured nearly identical to a genuine Adderall pill in shape, size, color, and brand markings.

Rath also brokered a deal involving a half-kilogram of fentanyl with an Asian Boyz associate and co-defendant, Anel Reyes. In early December 2021, Rath was introduced to undercover agents posing as music industry insiders. Rath used the brand “Money Affiliated” to publish music and sell clothing that promoted his allegiance to the Asian Boyz.

The undercover agents expressed interest in helping Rath produce rap music and the need for a source of wholesale quantities of cocaine and fentanyl. On December 20, 2021, Rath set up a meeting at his music studio in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, between the undercover agent, Reyes, and himself for the sale of 500 grams of fentanyl for $10,000. Reyes was only able to obtain around 400 grams of fentanyl, so the undercover agent paid $8,000.

For his role in setting up the deal, Rath was paid $800 from the proceeds of the fentanyl sale. Around three weeks later, on January 14, 2024, Reyes conducted a second transaction with the same undercover agent, this time for a half kilogram of fentanyl for $10,000.
