Mexican National With Prior Drug Conviction Arrested For Illegal Reentry

COLUMBUS, OH.- On Thursday, a 34-year-old Mexican national residing illegally in Fayette County, Ohio, was taken into custody by federal agents and charged with illegal reentry into the United States after being deported in 2016 following his conviction and prison sentence for an aggravated felony.
On Thursday, February 13, 2025, Pedro Marquez, 34, of Bloomingburg, Ohio, was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in a federal criminal complaint with Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien Convicted of an Aggravated Felony.
Marquez Faces Up To 20 Years If Convicted
If convicted at trial, Marquez faces up to 20 years in federal prison and will be immediately removed from the United States upon completion of the term of imprisonment.
According to U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker and charging information filed in the federal criminal complaint, in 2011, Marquez was convicted for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy and illegally reentering the United States and was sentenced to a federal prison term. In that conviction, Marquez conspired with others in the Eastern District of Oklahoma to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of crystal methamphetamine. Marquez was responsible for transporting, delivering, and distributing the illicit narcotic.
Marquez was removed from the United States again following his prison sentence in 2016. Sometime after that, Marquez illegally reentered the United States.
