Montgomery County Man Sentenced For Sexually Enticing Children

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Last Wednesday, a 30-year-old Montgomery County, Pennsylvania man and child predator found out he will be spending the next two decades in federal prison after being sentenced for enticing young girls to perform sexual acts so he could create child pornography and share over the internet.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Kevin Murray, 30, of Oreland, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge R. Barclay Surrick to 240 months in federal prison, to be followed by fifteen years of supervised release after pleading guilty to three counts federal child pornography offenses.
   According to U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero, in June 2022, a Federal Grand Jury for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Murray with one count of Use of an Interstate Commerce Facility to Entice a Minor to Engage in Sexually Explicit Conduct; one count of Manufacturing and Attempted Manufacturing of Child Pornography; and one count of Possession of Child Pornography. In October 2024, Murray appeared in federal court in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and pleaded guilty to all three counts.
According To Charging Documents
According to charging information unsealed in the 2022 indictment, on September 1, 2020, a user of the online chat application Omegle uploaded and shared video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent children. A content moderator for Omegle reported the internet activity to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Shortly thereafter, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children provided the information via a CyberTip to the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. During the ensuing investigation, investigators were able to identify and trace an IP address to Murray’s Oreland, Pennsylvania residence.
On October 22, 2020, law enforcement investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Murray’s home. During the search, investigators found Murray at home. After being told the reason for the execution of the search warrant, Murray admitted to possessing child pornography on his computer. Murray then agreed to an interview at the local police department, where he admitted to accessing Omegle to both download and share child pornography.
Murray further admitted to soliciting preteen girls over Omegle to undress themselves and perform sexual acts on themselves. At that point, he would record their digital images and video files on his computer for his sexual gratification.
A subsequent court-authorized forensic examination of Murray’s electronic devices revealed that from 2019 through 2020, Murray utilized his cellular phone and his computer to obtain around 361 digital images and 93 video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of young children. Among the video files were several taken during Murray’s Omegle video chats with at least three different young girls, including a girl who appeared to be between eight and ten years of age.
   Chat records revealed Murray directing the young girl to engage in sexually explicit behavior. In response, the child engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and Murray created three videos depicting the conduct.
“Murray preyed on children, grooming them for his own deviant purposes,” said U.S. Attorney Romero. “He exposed these young girls to child pornography to normalize sexual behavior in their minds, convinced them to engage in explicit acts on camera, then saved the material for his repeated consumption. My office and our partners are working every day to prosecute predators like this, get justice for their victims, and keep all children safe from similar harm.”
