WASHINGTON, DC.- A 64-year-old Washington, D.C. man will be spending nearly the next two years in prison after he was sentenced on Friday in connection with a string of retail thefts that occurred last summer over eleven days at a Northwest, D.C. CVS store.

According to U.S. Attorney Edward R. Martin, on Friday, February 14, 2025, Craig Wilson, 64, of Washington, D.C., appeared in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Carmen McLean to 20 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea.

On November 5, 2024, Wilson appeared in the Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Judge McLean to one count of first-degree Theft; and one count of misdemeanor Bail Reform Violation. In handing down the sentence of Friday, Judge McLean also ordered Wilson to serve an additional 90 days consecutive to the 20-month term for his guilty plea on the bail reform violation.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith and documents filed with the Superior Court, between June 19, 2024, and September 9, 2024, Wilson committed a string of thefts, mainly at the same CVS store located on the 1000 Block of 16th Street in Northwest, D.C. During that period, Wilson committed 13 retail thefts over the course of eleven days. In each theft, Wilson was captured on a surveillance camera entering the store, taking merchandise from the shelves, and leaving the store without paying for the items.

The total value of the merchandise that Wilson stole during the crime spree was estimated at over $3,000. Wilson was arrested on September 26, 2024, and has remained in custody since that date.
