Fair Lawn Man With Sexually Assaulting A Child Over 18 Months

ORADELL, NJ.- Last Thursday, a 23-year-old Fairlawn, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a child over an eighteen-month span.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Friday, January 17, 2025, members of the Oradell Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an allegation of the sexual assault of a preteen child that had occurred two years ago. 

Detectives Determined Picado Committed Sex Crimes

     A subsequent investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Oradell Police Department determined that after interviewing witnesses, including the child victim, that Gerald A. Picado, 23, of Fairlawn, New Jersey, sexually assaulted and endangered the child on multiple occasions beginning in April 2022 and lasting through November 2023, in Oradell, New Jersey and Wayne, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, Picado was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with six counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; three counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; two counts of third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact; four counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact.

     Picado was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
