Camden City Man Sentenced To Life For May 2018 Camden Shooting Death

CAMDEN, NJ.- Yesterday, a 44-year-old Camden, New Jersey man found out that he would die in New Jersey State Prison after he was sentenced to over seven decades for fatally gunning down a 25-year-old Camden man during the evening hours of May 10, 2018, outside a Camden store.
According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, Shomari Kinard, 44, of Camden City, New Jersey, appeared in Camden County Superior Court and was sentenced to 75 years in State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Kinard to serve 85% of his custodial term, roughly a little over 63 years before becoming eligible for parole.
Jury Convicts Kinard In October 2024 Of Murder
On October 10, 2024, following a trial in Superior Court, a Camden County jury found Kinard guilty of first-degree Murder; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in connection with the targeted shooting death of Nuquan Reddick, 25, of Camden, New Jersey.
The conviction and prison sentence stem from an investigation that began on May 10, 2018, when members of the Camden County Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man being shot outside the Great Town Grocery and Deli located on Louis and Morton Streets in Camden City.
Police Find Mr. Reddick Shot 7 Times
Upon arrival, Police Officers found Nuquan Reddick on the ground, suffering from seven gunshot wounds to his back. Mr. Reddick was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, where, despite life-saving measures by doctors, Mr. Reddick succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on July 10, 2018, due to complications from the gunshot wounds.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office were able to identify Kinard as the shooter through surveillance video, witness statements, and cell phone data.
