Cumberland County Jury Convicts Man Of Sexually Assaulting Toddler

VINELAND, NJ.- A 53-year-old former Vineland, New Jersey, man and child predator will be spending the rest of his life in New Jersey State Prison after being found guilty on Wednesday of sexually assaulting a two-year-old girl in late July 2023.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, following a two-week trial in Cumberland County Superior Court, a jury found Jorge Deleon Diaz, 53, formerly of Vineland, guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault; second-degree Sexual Assault; third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and fourth-degree Lewdness.
After returning their findings of guilt, Superior Court Judge Niki Arbittier accepted the jury’s guilty verdict and, filed the verdict with the court, and scheduled sentencing for May 19, 2025. At that time, Diaz faces a mandatory minimum of 25 years and up to life in State Prison, pursuant to the Jessica Lundsford Act.
Evidence Presented At Trial
During the trial, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office presented evidence, including eyewitness testimony as well as DNA evidence, and admissions made by Diaz that he sexually assaulted the toddler on July 25, 2023, in Vineland, New Jersey.
