Police Charge Southeast, D.C. Teen In Saturday Night Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department has taken a 14-year-old boy into custody and charged him in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday night in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at around 9:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District responded to reports of gunfire on the 100 Block of L Street in Southeast, D.C.

Police Determine No One Was Injured In The Shooting

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found shell casings at the location. While at the scene, Police Officers made contact with an individual who reported that a group of people were shot at by a suspect who then fled the area. During the initial investigation, Police Officers determined that none of the individuals were struck by gunfire.

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify the suspect. Based on the Investigation, on Wednesday, Detectives arrested and charged a 14-year-old Southeast, D.C. boy with one count of Assault With a Dangerous Weapon. The teen was processed on the charge, and his custody status is unknown.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: As in adult criminal cases, the charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
