Fort Lee Couple Charged With Sexually Assaulting Missing Teen Girl

FORT LEE, NJ.- On Sunday, following an investigation, a 58-year-old Fort Lee, New Jersey man and his 50-year-old wife were taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the sexual assault of a missing New York teen girl.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, members of the New York City Police Department contacted the Fort Lee Police Department regarding a missing child from New York City who was believed to be in the Fort Lee, New Jersey area.
Police Find The Child With The Piovanettis
During an initial investigation, members of the Fort Lee Police Department were able to locate the child, between the ages of thirteen and sixteen, in the company of Marc Piovanetti, 58, and Jennifer Piovanetti, 50, both of Fort Lee. After locating the teen, the Fort Lee Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and initiated a joint investigation.
During the investigation, Detectives determined that Marc Piovanetti, who was unknown to the teen girl, engaged in a conversation with the child on TurnUp, a social media application, and made arrangements for the two to meet. Marc Piovanetti allegedly gave the child marijuana and sexually assaulted the girl in his Fort Lee residence between Saturday and Sunday.
During further investigation, Detectives uncovered that Jennifer Piovanetti was present in the was at home in the same residence at the time the alleged sexual assaults occurred and was aware the child was in the home, along with another child under the age of thirteen who was also present in the home.
Accordingly, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, Piovanetti was taken into custody in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and formally charged with four counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; second-degree Luring; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and two counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. After being processed on the charges, Piovanetti was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Additionally, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, Jennifer Piovanetti was taken into custody in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and formally charged with second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. After being processed on the charges, Jennifer Piovanetti was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court.
