East Brunswick Man Charged With Killing His Wife Yesterday Morning

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Friday, a 60-year-old East Brunswick, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged murder of his 58-year-old wife that occurred yesterday inside their East Brunswick home.

     According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, February 28, 2025, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Ashraf Tawfik, 60, of East Brunswick, walked into the East Brunswick Police Department and reported that he had killed his wife.

Police Find Wife Dead

     Following the report, members of the East Brunswick Police Department responded to Ashraf’s home located on Yorktown Road, and upon entry into the residence, Police Officers found the lifeless body of Marsail Botros, 58, of East Brunswick, New Jersey. Ms. Botros was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     After the discovery of Ms. Botros’ body, Tawfik was taken into custody at the East Brunswick Police Department and formally charged with first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

     Tawfik was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing.
