MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 51-year-old Marlboro Township, New Jersey, man will be spending nearly the next four decades in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced for sexually and physically abusing his daughter for over six years.

According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Andrey V. Penkin, 51, of Marlboro Township, appeared in Monmouth County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Christie Bevacqua 45 years in State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Penkin to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

Sentence Stems From An Investigation

The sentence stems from an investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau in conjunction with the Marlboro Township Police Department. During the investigation, Detectives determined that the abuse of Penkin’s daughter began around 2016 when the family resided in Sayreville, New Jersey. Once the abuse began, numerous incidents of sexual abuse followed in Sayreville and in their next two residences in East Brunswick and Marlboro Township.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, in early 2023, after finding his daughter in possession of a friend’s pack of cigarettes, Penkin brutally beat his daughter, causing a severe concussion and multiple facial injuries.

Penkin was arrested in April 2023. At trial, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office presented medical records, witness testimony, and physical evidence, including his daughter’s diary. In September 2024, after just 80 minutes of deliberation, the jury found Penkin guilty of two counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; second-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; and two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

In handing down the sentence on Thursday, Judge Bevacqua sentenced Penkin to consecutive terms of 37 years and eight years on the sexual assault charges and concurrent terms on the remaining convictions.

“The victim in this case endured years of unimaginably cruel abuse from a person who was supposed to rank high among her most trusted sources of love and protection,” Prosecutor Santiago said. “We strongly feel that this sentence is fitting and hope it sends an unmistakable message regarding the consequences of such conduct.”
