LOWER TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Following an investigation, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, a 55-year-old Lower Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged for allegedly exposing himself to multiple children in the Villas section of Lower Township.

According to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, on February 26, 2025, members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Lower Township Police Department launched a joint investigation after receiving reports that several children had observed a naked man within the 100 Block of Greenwood Avenue in the Township.

Investigation Results With McKinley Being Charged

As a result of a swift-moving investigation, on Monday, March 4, 2025, members of the Cape May County Regional S.W.A.T. Team executed a court-authorized search warrant at the residence of Robert McKinley, 55, of the Villas section of Lower Township. During the search, McKinley was taken into custody and formally charged with three counts of fourth-degree Lewdness; and three counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

McKinley was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Cape May County Superior Court in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. If convicted at trial, McKinley faces up to five years in New Jersey State Prison.

“This case highlights the commitment of law enforcement to protecting children in our community,” said Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland. “We take these offenses very seriously and will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in inappropriate and unlawful behavior are held accountable.”

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
