Dominican National Sentenced For Illegal Reentry Into The U.S.

Friday, March 7, 2025, 4:00 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- On Tuesday, a 55-year-old Dominican national residing illegally in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania found out that he would be spending nearly the next two years in federal prison and would be receiving a one-way plane ticket back to the Dominican Republic after being sentenced for a fourth time for being in the United States illegally.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Jesus Del Orbe, also known as “Angel Cabrera-Santiago” and “Jesus Valdez-Del Orbe,” 55, of the Dominican Republic, residing illegally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Joseph F. Leeson, Jr., to 21 months in federal prison, to be followed by one year of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to Illegally Entering the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Nelson S.T. Thayer, Jr., and documents filed with the District Court, in August 2024, Del Orbe was indicted by a Federal Grand Jury and, in November 2024, pleaded guilty to the charge unsealed in the indictment. Del Orbe had been previously convicted of illegal reentry in 2017 in the District of Puerto Rico and in 2019 in the Southern District of Texas.

After learning that Del Orbe was illegally in the United States, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents located him working at a Philadelphia tire shop, where he was taken into custody in July 2024. According to immigration records at the time of his arrest, Del Orbe had been previously removed from the United States on three prior occasions, on or about March 1, 2016, February 20, 2018, and November 17, 2020. During each time, Del Orbe did not apply for or receive permission or authorization to reenter the U.S.

“If you’re going to keep breaking the law, we’re going to keep prosecuting you,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Thayer. “Mr. Del Orbe has repeatedly and deliberately entered the United States illegally, in contravention of our immigration laws. We will continue to work to hold such serial lawbreakers accountable.”
