D.C. Metropolitan Police Charge Man For October 2024 Moped Carjacking

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, an 18-year-old Northwest, D.C. man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a strongarm carjacking that occurred on October 13, 2024, in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A Smith, on Sunday, October 13, 2025, just shortly before 1:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a carjacking on the 1900 Block of 14th Street in Northeast, D.C.
Police Find Victim Who Reported Being Forced Off His Moped
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim, who reported that they were on their moped when they were approached by a suspect who forced them off the moped and then fled the scene on the victim’s moped.
During an ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify an 18-year-old Northwest, D.C. man who was a minor at the time he carjacked the moped. Accordingly, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the 18-year-old man was taken into custody pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court custody order and formally charged with one count of Unarmed Carjacking.
The man was processed on the charge, pending future court proceedings in the District of Columbia Superior Court.
