South Toms River Man Charged With Murdering His Wife

SOUTH TOMS RIVER, NJ.- Last night, a 38-year-old South Toms River, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jail after being charged in connection with the strangulation death of his 30-year-old wife inside their Hummel Drive home.

     According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at around 9:15 p.m., members of the South Toms River Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unconscious woman at a residence located on Hummel Drive in South Toms River.

Police Find Woman Bleeding With Belt Around Her Neck

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Cheyanne Juarez, 30, of South Toms River, unconscious on the floor, bleeding from her face and a belt wrapped around her neck. Where despite life-saving efforts by responding Police Officers and First Responders, Ms. Juarez succumbed to her injuries and was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.

     An investigation by Detectives of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the South Toms River Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit determined that Ms. Juarez’s husband, Gustavo Juarez-Perez, 38, of South Toms River was responsible for the murder of his wife.

     Accordingly, Juarez-Perez was taken into custody at the residence without incident and formally charged with first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

     Juarez-Perez was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
