Man Charged With Running Down Bayonne Bicyclist & Fleeing The Scene

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Last Thursday, following a nearly year-long investigation by members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit, a 26-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with a Jersey City hit-and-run that seriously injured a bicyclist in May 2024.

     According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, Dinesh Budhram, 26, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus, New Jersey, and formally charged with second-degree Assault by Auto, for Driving Intoxicated in a School Zone; third-degree Assault by Auto; Knowingly Leaving the scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury; and third-degree Endangering an Injured Victim.

     Following being processed on the charges, Budhram was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.

     The charges stem from an investigation that began on Saturday, May 2, 2024, when shortly before 5:00 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle in the area of Garfield, Gates, and Seaview Avenues in Jersey City.

Police Officers Find Bayonne Man Critically Injured

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 21-year-old Bayonne, New Jersey, man suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle that fled the scene while riding his bicycle. During the initial investigation, a vehicle and person of interest was identified.
