Englewood Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Preteen

DUMONT, NJ.- On Friday, March 7, 2025, following the conclusion of an investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit, a 35-year-old Englewood, New Jersey, man, and foreign national became the third perpetrator to be taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with sexually assaulting a child.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Friday, March 7, 2025, the New Jersey Divison of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office regarding an alleged sexual assault of a child that occurred in the past in Dumont, New Jersey.

Detectives Determine Rodriguez Sexually Assaulted The Child

     Following an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Dumont Police Department, and after interviewing witnesses, including the victim, Detectives determined that Jonathan E. Rodriguez, 35, of Englewood, sexually assaulted a child under the age of thirteen in Dumont, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Friday, March 7, 2025, Rodriguez was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of second-degree Sexual Assault; and one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Rodriguez was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
