CAMDEN, NJ.- Camden County authorities are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting after gunfire erupted Wednesday night in the City of Camden, leaving a 32-year-old man dead and another hospitalized in critical condition.

According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, shortly before 10:30 p.m., members of the Camden County Police Department responded to a multiple ShotSpotter activation on the 300 Block of Morse Avenue in the City of Camden.

Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Jose Hiraldo-Peralta, 32, of Camden, New Jersey, outside on the ground, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Police Officers located a second man suffering from a gunshot wound inside of a nearby residence.

Both men were immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Hiraldo-Peralta succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The second victim underwent emergency surgery and, as of Thursday night, remains in critical but stable condition.
