Elizabeth Duo Charged With Bilking Acquaintance Out Of Over $250,00

ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Thursday, March 13, 2025, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that following an investigation, an Elizabeth, New Jersey, duo were taken into custody early last week and charged in connection with a theft scheme that bilked an acquaintance out of over $250,000.
Crystal Williams and Damien Hall, both of Elizabeth, New Jersey, were criminally charged with 30 counts, including second-degree Conspiracy to Commit Theft; second-degree Theft; and multiple counts of third-degree and fourth-degree Criminal Impersonation; and Forgery.
Investigation Uncovers Over $250,000 Theft
The charges are the result of an investigation led by Union County Prosecutor’s Office Special Prosecutions Unit Detective Dr. Grant Mayes. During the investigation, it was determined that between 2022 and 2024, Williams and Hall engaged in a series of deceptive practices against the victim, who was an acquaintance of the two, to deprive the victim of over $250,000.
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Williams and Hall were taken into custody and charged. Following being processed on the charges, they were remanded to the Union County Jail pending future court proceedings in Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
