KEARNY, NJ.- Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported on Thursday, March 13, 2025, that Detectives of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit formally charged a 34-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey woman in connection with a motor vehicle crash that critically injured a Pennsylvania man in Kearny, New Jersey on Friday, November 15, 2024.

On Thursday, Maria Molesky, 34, of Jersey City, was taken into custody at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus, New Jersey, and formally charged with Aggravated Assault; and Assault by Auto. Molesky was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court.

Molesky’s Actions Led To Charges Being Filed

The charges stem from an investigation that began when on Friday, November 15, 2024, just shortly around 12:30 a.m., members of the Kearny Police Department responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision on the Newark-Jersey City Turnpike and Fish House Road in Kearny.

Upon arrival, Police Officers located the crash and learned that a Jeep Compass operated by Molesky collided with a Ford F-150 pickup. The driver of the Ford F-150, a 56-year-old Pennsylvania man, sustained serious injuries in the collision. During the initial investigation, Kearny Police Officers determined that Molesky was operating the Jeep Compass while intoxicated and arrested and issued her motor vehicle summonses for Reckless Driving and Driving While Intoxicated.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and our defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
