Millville Man Charged With Distributing Child Pornography

MILLVILLE, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation, a 49-year-old Millville, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly distributing and possessing thousands of digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children.

     According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding an individual utilizing the internet through a social media messaging application, “Kik” to view, download, possess, and distribute digital images and video files of child pornography.

Detectives Identify Dunigan

     During the investigation, Detectives of the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crime Internet Crimes Against Children Unit were able to identify and track an IP address to a Cedar Street residence in Millville, New Jersey. Further investigation uncovered that the IP address was registered to John Dunigan, 49, of Millville, who was utilizing the internet through the Kik messenger application to possess and share child pornography with others.

     Accordingly, on Friday, March 14, 2025, Detectives, with the assistance of the Cumberland County Special Victims Unit and the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, executed a court-authorized search warrant at Dunigan’s Cedar Street residence. During the search, Detectives uncovered thousands of digital images and video files of child pornography on Dunigan’s electronic devices.

     Dunigan was taken into custody without incident and formally charged with multiple counts of first-degree and second-degree Distribution and Possession of Child Pornography.

     Dunigan was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Cumberland County Jail pending future court proceedings in Cumberland County Superior Court in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The nature of the charges, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion with the court to detain Dunigan pending trial.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
