WILLIAMSPORT, PA.- On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Elio Yoel Cardona-Torres, 43. a Honduran national residing illegally in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, on one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging information unsealed in the indictment, it has been alleged that on or about February 22, 2025, Cardona-Torres was found in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, after being previously removed from the United States.
The indictment further alleges that Cardona-Torres had been removed from the United States on June 2, 2010, through Phoenix, Arizona, and reentered the U.S. without first obtaining permission or legal authorization to do so.
If convicted on the charge unsealed in the indictment, Cardona-Torres faces a maximum of up to 20 years in federal prison, at least two years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. A U.S. district court judge will determine any sentence imposed upon a finding of guilt based on the seriousness of the offense and Cardona-Torres’ prior criminal history.
Acting U.S. Attorney Gurganus commended the investigative work of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Enforcement Removal Operations.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
