Ringwood Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child & Producing Child Pornography

RINGWOOD, NJ.- Last Wednesday, following an investigation, a 39-year-old Ringwood, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with sexually assaulting a teen girl and filming the sexual assaults so he could create digital images and video files of child pornography.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, Scott Volpe, 39, of Ringwood, New Jersey, was formally charged with one count of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; one count of third-degree Criminal Sexual Contact; one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact; one count of third-degree Hindering Apprehension; one count of third-degree Tampering with Physical Evidence; one count of first-degree Manufacturing Child Pornography; one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child-Sexual Contact; and one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child-Possession of Child Pornography.
Investigation Uncovers Child Sexual Assault
The charges stem from an investigation that began on March 7, 2025, when members of the Ringwood Police Department contacted Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after receiving a report regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child between the ages of thirteen and fifteen that occurred at a residence in West Milford, New Jersey in January and February 2025.
Based on the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify Volpe as the perpetrator and the individual responsible for sexually assaulting the child and creating child pornography of the alleged assaults.
Accordingly, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at around 9:30 a.m., Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ringwood Police Department arrested Volpe in Ringwood, New Jersey. Volpe was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Passaic County Superior Court in Paterson, New Jersey. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Volpe pending trial.
If convicted at trial, Volpe faces spending decades in New Jersey State Prison and would be required to be subject to parole supervision for life and register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law requirements.
