Maryland Man Fatally Gunned Down Early Sunday Morning In Southeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an Upper Marlboro, Maryland, man who was fatally gunned down early Sunday morning in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, March 16, 2025, just shortly before 3:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to reports of gunfire on the 1100 Block of Chaplin Street in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Maryland Man Shot Dead

     Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders found a man, later identified as Marcus Kelly, 42, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, unresponsive from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, Mr. Kelly was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Police continue their search for a suspect and a motive for the shooting.
