WOODBRIDGE, NJ.- Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported, today that a 17-year-old Woodbridge Township, New Jersey, male student was taken into custody and charged in connection with threatening another student and possessing a ghost gun in school.

After being taken into custody, the teen was charged with acts of juvenile delinquency for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose; Terroristic Threats; Possession of a Firearm on School Property; and Possession of a Ghost Gun.

The Teen Was Placed Into Custody

The teen was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center pursuant to a juvenile custody order, pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court Family Division in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

The charges stem from an investigation that began when, on Monday, March 17, 2025, during the evening hours, a Woodbridge Township High School student received multiple threatening text messages from another student at the high school.

The student who received the threatening text messages went into school this morning and reported threats to school administrators. The administration conducted a brief investigation during which the other student, a 17-year-old male’s belongings were searched, and a loaded handgun was found in his possession.

Upon discovering the handgun, school administrators contacted the Woodbridge Township Police Department shortly after 8:00 a.m. Upon arrival, Police Officers seized the firearm and placed the 17-year-old male under arrest.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Brian Vella of the Woodbridge Township Police Department at (732) 602-7317. All information will be kept confidential.
