Lakewood Man Charged After Infant Son Dies After Being Left In Minivan

LAKEWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Today, a 35-year-old Lakewood Township, New Jersey, man surrendered to Detectives at the Lakewood Township Police Department after being charged in connection with causing the death of his four-month-old son who perished after being left unattended inside the families minivan on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, today, March 20, 2025, Moshe Ehrlich, 35, of Lakewood Township, surrendered himself to Detectives and was formally charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Ehrlich was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court.
The charge stems from an investigation that began on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, when, around 1:45 p.m., members of the Lakewood Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive child inside a minivan on 5th Street in the Township.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found Hatzolah Medical Services administering life-saving measures to a four-month-old infant boy. The child was immediately transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where the child tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Detectives Charge Father In Death Of Infant Son
Following an extensive investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lakewood Township Police Department, with assistance from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Detectives determined that Ehrlich left his four-month-old son in the family’s minivan for an extended period of time resulting in the infant’s death.
