Garfield Charter School Teacher Charged With Child Sex Crimes

GARFIELD, NJ.- On Thursday, following an investigation, a 62-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey, man employed as a substitute teacher at the Bergen Arts & Science Charter School in Garfield, New Jersey, was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with allegedly sexually assaulting three students by inappropriately touching them.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the Garfield Police Department contacted Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assaults of three students that had occurred on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the Bergen Arts & Science Charter School located in Garfield, New Jersey.

Investigation Uncovers Sexual Assaults

     During the ensuing investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Garfield Police Department, and following interviewing witnesses, including the juvenile student victims, Detectives determined that Marc S. Green, 62, of Teaneck, New Jersey, sexually assaulted and endangered three children while acting in the capacity of a substitute teacher at the Charter School.

     Accordingly, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, Green was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and formally charged with five counts of second-degree Sexual Assault by Sexual Contact; and three counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

     Green was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.  

     If convicted at trial, and due to the nature of the offenses, Green faces up to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison, parole supervision for life, and will be required to register as a sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law registration restraints.
