Vineland Man Convicted Of Multiple Narcotics Offenses

MILLVILLE, NJ.- A 34-year-old Vineland, New Jersey, man will be facing at least ten years and up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison when sentenced after a Cumberland County Jury on Thursday found him guilty of multiple narcotics offenses.
According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, following a four-day trial before Superior Court Judge Niki Arbiter in Cumberland County Superior Court, convicted Wayne E. Broughton, 34, of Vineland, on the charges of second-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine; third-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; third-degree Possession of Fentanyl; and third-degree Possession of Methamphetamine.

The jury acquitted Broughton of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Firearm During a Controlled Dangerous Substance Crime; and Certain Persons Not to Possess Firearms.
According To Evidence Presented At Trial
According to evidence presented at trial, on August 14, 2020, right around 6:30 a.m., members of the Vineland Police Department, with assistance from other law enforcement agencies, arrived at a residence located on Newcombtown Road, in Millville, New Jersey, to execute an arrest warrant on Broughton, on an unrelated matter.
Law enforcement officers arrested Broughton without incident. After securing the residence, law enforcement officers discovered multiple narcotics and a handgun throughout the residence. Items uncovered and seized included over one-half ounce of methamphetamine pills, over one-half ounce of fentanyl pills, drug paraphernalia items consistent with street-level drug sales, and a revolver handgun.
Following the contraband being located and seized, Broughton was additionally charged with narcotics and weapons offenses.
   Upon the jury returning their findings of guilt, Judge Arbiter accepted the guilty verdict and scheduled sentencing for May 5, 2025. At that time, Broughton faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years, and up to 20 years in State Prison.
