Man Fatally Gunned Down Thursday Afternoon In Southeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 29-year-old Northeast, D.C. man, who was fatally gunned down yesterday afternoon in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, just shortly before 3:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man being shot on the 2800 Block of 1st Street in Southeast, D.C.
Responding Police Officers Find Man Shot Dead
Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders located a man, later identified as Benjamin Mingo, 29, of Southeast, D.C., on the ground, having succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound. Mr. Mingo was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for the gunman and a motive for the fatal shooting of Mr. Mingo.
