SCRANTON, PA.- On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Eli Valentine Calero, 43, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, on a federal drug trafficking charge.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging information unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that on March 12, 2025, while in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, Calero possessed over 500 grams of methamphetamine and a quantity of cocaine.
If Convicted, Calero Faces Up To Life In Federal Prison
If convicted at trial, Calero faces a mandatory minimum of 20 years and up to life in federal prison, at least five years of supervised release, and a $5 million fine. When sentenced upon a finding of guilty, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Calero’s prior criminal history, if any.
Acting U.S. Attorney Gurganus commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office for the investigation, which led to Tuesday’s indictment against Calero.

“The rules of the federal court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
