Albany Convicted Felon Pleads Guilty Conspiring To Distribute Fentanyl

ALBANY, NY.- On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, a 27-year-old Albany, New York, man with a prior felony conviction learned he could be potentially spending the rest of his life in federal prison after pleading guilty to federal narcotics and firearms charges.

     On Tuesday, Henassy McConico, 27, of Albany, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and pleaded guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl; Distribution of Fentanyl; and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

     Following entering his guilty plea on Tuesday, the Court scheduled sentencing for July 23, 2025. At that time, McConico faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison, at least 10 years and up to life of supervised release, and a $8 million fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and McConico’s prior criminal history.

     According to U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone, III, and statements made in court, McConico admitted that he personally to distributing fentanyl pills on numerous occasions in the Albany, New York, area in 2024, including on October 15, 2024, when he distributed around 485 fentanyl pills to another individual. McConico further admitted that he possessed a loaded handgun and assorted ammunition in his Albany residence.

     Federal law prohibits a person with a prior felony conviction from owning or possessing a firearm and ammunition. During 2024, McConico knew he was a prohibited person due to his previous conviction for attempted robbery.
