Teaneck Man Charged With Sexually Groping Juvenile

BERGENFIELD, NJ.- On Saturday, March 29, 2025, following an investigation, a 48-year-old Teaneck, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile earlier in the day.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, On Saturday, the Bergenfield Police Department contacted members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after receiving a report of an alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that occurred in Bergenfield, New Jersey.

     During a swift-moving joint investigation by the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Bergenfield Police Department, Detectives, after interviewing witnesses, including the juvenile victim, quickly determined that Joel U. Brito, 48, of Teaneck, New Jersey, sexually assaulted and endangered the juvenile, during the early morning hours of Saturday, March 29, 2025, in Bergenfield, New Jersey.

Charges Filed Against Brito

     Accordingly, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, Brito was taken into custody in Bergenfield, New Jersey, and was formally charged with one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact. Brito was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
