Two Men Were Fatally Gunned Down Saturday Night In The City Of Camden

CAMDEN, NJ.- Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting that claimed the lives of a 21-year-old Pennsauken, New Jersey, man, and a 22-year-old Camden, New Jersey man, that occurred late Saturday night in Camden City.

     According to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAuly, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, just shortly before 11:00 p.m., members of the Camden County Police Department responded to a multi-round ShotSpotter activation on the 600 Block of Elm Street in Camden City.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Francisco Benavides, 21, of Pennsauken, outside on the ground on the 600 Block of North 5th Street, having sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds. Mr. Benavides was immediately transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

     A second gunshot victim, later identified as Luis Delgado, 22, of Camden, had arrived at Cooper University Hospital by a private vehicle and was pronounced deceased shortly around 11:30 p.m.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the investigation of the events that led up to the shooting.
