Bayonne Man Sentenced For The Fatal Stabbing Of His Wife

BAYONNE, NJ.- A 35-year-old Bayonne, New Jersey man will be spending the next two decades in State Prison for his role in the March 2022 fatal stabbing of his 33-year-old wife inside their Bayonne, New Jersey home.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Friday, March 28, 2025, Peter Revelo, 35, of Bayonne, New Jersey, appeared in Hudson County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act which will require Revelo to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.
Revelo Previously Pleaded Guilty To Aggravated Manslaughter
Revelo previously appeared before Judge Mitzy-Menendez in Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey, and pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter for the stabbing death of Mely Vanessa Tafoya Mendoza, 33, of Bayonne, New Jersey.
The sentence and guilty plea stem from an investigation that began on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, when shortly before 12:00 p.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call requesting Police assistance at 105 North Street in Bayonne.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found Ms. Tafoya Mendoza inside the home, unresponsive from a fatal stab wound to her upper body. Ms. Tafoya Mendoza was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m.
The ensuing investigation by Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department led to Revelo being charged with murdering his wife, Ms Tofoya Mendoza.
