FLORENCE, NJ.- On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw reported that her office, in conjunction with the Florence Township Police Department, has filed charges against a 16-year-old Alexandria, Virginia, boy in connection with repeatedly trying to stab a Florence Township Police Officer who was attempting to apprehend the juvenile for crashing a stolen car into the Officer’s Police Vehicle late last month.
The charges stem from an incident that began on March 21, 2025, shortly after 4:00 p.m., when a Florence Township Police Officer’s patrol vehicle was intentionally struck multiple times while he was responding to a report of an overturned motor vehicle.
Teen Attempts To Stabb Police Officer Multiple Times
The suspect’s vehicle became inoperable on Route 130 near Station Road in the Township. The teen suspect exited the vehicle and ran directly toward the Officers who were on the scene, lunging at them with a knife. One of the Police Officers suffered facial injuries and a laceration to his upper body while securing the knife from the teen suspect. Two other Florence Township Police Officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital and released.
Following the investigation, the identity of the 16-year-old juvenile resident of Alexandria, Virginia, is being withheld due to being a minor. The teen has been formally charged with first-degree Attempted Murder; two counts of third-degree Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; two counts of fourth-degree Assault by Auto; third-degree Resisting Arrest; third-degree Criminal Mischief; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; third-degree Theft of a Motor Vehicle; fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and fourth-degree Obstruction.
Further investigation uncovered that the teen also caused the initial collision that the Police Officer was responding to before being struck by the juvenile suspect.
The teen was processed on the charges and has remained detained in the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center since his arrest, pending future court proceedings in Burlington County Superior Court Family Law Divison in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and as in adult criminal cases, a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
