Teen Student Charged For Stabbing Fellow Student At Fort Lee High School

FORT LEE, NJ.- On Tuesday, a 16-year-old Fort Lee, New Jersey boy was taken into custody and lodged in the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center after being charged in connection with the brutal stabbing of a fellow student after an apparent altercation turned violent earlier in the day.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, shortly before 11:00 a.m., members of the Fort Lee Police Department responded to an emergency radio call from a uniformed Police officer assigned and detailed to the Fort Lee High School reporting a student being stabbed at the school, additional units responded, including assistance from neighboring towns.
Teen Student Hospitalized After Being Stabbed Multiple Times
Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found a juvenile student who had been stabbed multiple times. First Responders and School Security Staff provided medical assistance to the teen student, who was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The teen boy remains hospitalized and was listed in critical but stable condition.
During the incident, the school was placed on lockdown. The perpetrator, who was identified as a 16-year-old fellow student, was immediately taken into custody.
Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the school and initiated a joint investigation with the Fort Lee Police Department. During the investigation, Detectives determined that the suspect and the victim were in the school’s bathroom and began to engage in an altercation when the suspect pulled out a knife and began stabbing the victim in the neck, abdomen, back, and arm, resulting in the victim sustaining serious injuries.
Accordingly, as a result of the investigation, the teen suspect was placed into protective custody and formally charged with acts of juvenile delinquency of first-degree Attempted Murder: second-degree Aggravated Assualt; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The teen was processed on the charges and was transferred to the custody of the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court Family Law Division in Hackensack, New Jersey.
