Maryland Man Charged In January Early Morning Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- Following an investigation, an 18-year-old Fort Washington, Maryland, man has been taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the shooting of a rideshare driver’s car that occurred during the early morning hours of January 29, 2025, in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, shortly around 12:15 a.m., the victim, a rideshare driver, reported to Police that he took the suspect and another passenger to the 3300 Block of 10th Place in Southeast, D.C.
Rideshare Driver Tells Police Hebb Shot And Hit His Car
The victim and the suspect, later identified as Daveon Hebb, 18, of Fort Washington, Maryland, agreed that the victim would wait so Hebb and the other passenger could be dropped off where they were picked up. After waiting past the agreed-upon time, the victim drove away. While driving away, Hebb opened fire with a handgun at the rideshare driver’s vehicle, striking the vehicle. The victim did not get hit by gunfire.
Based on the investigation and pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, Heb was located and taken into custody and formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; and one count of Destruction of Property. Hebb was processed on the charges and was remanded to the DC Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
