MEDFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, April 11, 2025, following a trial in Burlington County Superior Court, a 43-year-old Medford Township, New Jersey man was found guilty of murdering his 41-year-old wife inside their Regent Court home back in March of 2023.
According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, the jury deliberated for just three hours on Friday before finding Babu Natarajan, 43, guilty of first-degree Murder. Following the jury returning their finding of guilt, Superior Court Judge Gerard H. Breland accepted the verdict and scheduled sentencing for May 23, 2025. At that time, Natarajan faces a mandatory minimum of 30 years and up to life in New Jersey State Prison.
The guilty verdict stems from an investigation that began during the afternoon hours of March 21, 2023, when members of the Medford Township Police Department responded to a Regent Court residence after receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive woman inside the home.
Police Officers Find Lifeless Body Of Natarajan’s Wife
Upon arrival, Police Officers found the lifeless body of Angammal Babu, 41, on the bed in the upstairs master bedroom. During the initial investigation, Police Officers learned that Natarajan had placed the 911 Call and later told responding Police Officers that his wife had taken a nap because she was tired. Responding Police Officers noticed trauma to Ms. Babu, and Natarajan was taken into custody at the scene.
Autopsy Determines Natarajan Strangled His Wife
Following an autopsy by the Burlington County Medical Examiner’s Office, Dr. Ian Hood determined the Cause of Ms. Babu’s Death to be Manual Compressions to the Neck and the Manner of Death to be Homicide. Following the Medical Examiner’s findings, Natarajan was formally charged with the strangulation death of his wife.
