Police Charge Man With The Saint Patrick’s Day Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, a 31-year-old Hyattsville, Maryland, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a shooting that occurred in the early evening of Monday, March 17, 2025, in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, March 17, 2025, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services station, located on the Unit Block of 49th Street in Northeast, D.C., after a man had walked into the station seeking treatment for multiple gunshot wounds. The man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police Determine Shooting Occurred On Clay Street

     During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers and Detectives, and following interviewing the victim, Detectives determined that the man was shot on the 400 Block of Clay Street in Northeast, D.C. Detectives also found evidence of a shooting crime scene at that location.

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify the shooter as Mickyel Goodwin, 31, of Hyattsville, Maryland, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Friday, April 11, 2025, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Goodwin pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court warrant.

     Goodwin was formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Goodwin was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
