Two People Shot, One Fatally Early Saturday Morning In Trenton

TRENTON, NJ.- Detectives of the Mercer County Homicide task Force are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting homicide that occurred early Saturday morning in New Jersey’s Capital City.
According to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, just shortly before 4:15 a.m., while on patrol in the area of the 300 Block of East State Stree, members of the Trenton Police Department heard sounds of gunfire in that area. Within minutes, additional Police Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on the 200 Block of East State Street in the City of Trenton.
Police Find Man And Woman Shot On Trenton Street
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man and a woman, both having sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where despite life-saving efforts, the male victim, later identified as Marquis Skillman, 38, of Trenton, New Jersey, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The female victim, identified only as a 39-year-old woman was treated for a gunshot wound to her leg.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives are continuing the search for the suspect and a motive for the shooting.
