BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, April 18, 2025, following an investigation, a 24-year-old Brick Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with an incident involving a young child that occurred earlier this month at a  Brick Township, New Jersey shopping center.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Friday, Sean Slowinski, 24, of Brick Township was formally charged with one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Slowinski was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Ocean County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.

The charge stems from an investigation that began on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, when a woman contacted the Brick Township Police Department who reported that her 8-year-old daughter had been inappropriately touched while inside the Walmart in Brick Township, New Jersey.

During a subsequent investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit in conjunction with the Brick Township Police Department. Detectives determined that the 8-year-old girl was standing in an aisle at Walmart when she was approached by an unknown man, later identified as Slowinski. He came in close contact with the child, then grabbed her hand and placed it inside his sweatshirt pocket.

The man then engaged in a conversation with the child before walking away. Police were able to get a detailed description of Slowinski from the young girl.

On Friday, April 18, 2025, members of the Brick Township Police Department responded to the Target store located on Route 70 in the Township on a report of a shoplifting incident. Upon arrival, Police Officers were able to identify Slowinski as the shoplifter.

Based on the description provided by the child in the April 9, 2025, Walmart incident, Police Officers were also able to identify Slowinski as the suspect who had touched the child. Slowinski was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Brick Township Police Department where he was formally charged.
