NEWARK, NJ.- Last Thursday, a 19-year-old Bayonne, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being federally charged in connection with allegedly inducing multiple children to send him sexually explicit digital images and video files of themselves over online social media platforms.

According to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, Julian Nova, 19, of Bayonne, New Jersey, was charged by federal criminal complaint with two counts of Production of Child Pornography; two counts of Coercion and Enticement of a Minor; one count of Distribution of Child Pornography; and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.

After being taken into custody, Nova made his initial appearance on Thursday, April 17, 2025, before U.S. Magistrate Judge James B. Clark, III, in Federal Court in Newark, New Jersey, and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. Following entering his plea, Judge Clark ordered Nova to be detained pending trial.

According To The Charging Documents

According to the charging information filed in the criminal complaint, in and about October 2023 and November 2023, Nova coerced multiple children to create and send him sexually explicit digital images and video files of themselves over online platforms, which he then distributed on the internet. After gaining the victim’s trust by posing as a teenage girl, Nova enticed the victims to send him child pornography of themselves.

Nova Blackmailed The Children

Nova then blackmailed the minor victims into producing additional sexually explicit digital images and video files, engaging in sexually explicit conduct, some of which included acts of self-degradation, by threatening to distribute the existing images and videos to the minor victims’ family and friends if they did not comply with his demands.

If convicted at trial, Nova faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to 30 years in federal prison on each of the counts of production of child pornography. On each of the counts of coercion and enticement of a minor, Nova faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison. The charge of distribution of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years in federal prison. On the charge of possession of child pornography, Nova faces a mandatory minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years in federal prison.

In addition to the term of imprisonment, upon a finding of guilt, Nova faces up to $1 million in fines and will be required to pay restitution to his identified victims and will be required to register as a sex offender in the national database.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
