Police Asking For Public’s Help In Locating Missing Elizabeth Woman

ELIZABETH, NJ.- On Friday, April 25, 2025, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported that the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Elizabeth Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing Elizabeth woman who was last seen in early March 2025.

     According to authorities, on Friday, March 14, 2025, members of the Elizabeth Police Department responded to a residence on the 600 Block of New Point Road in Elizabeth regarding a report of a missing person, Janaina Freire Goncalves, 48, of Elizabeth, New Jersey.

     During the initial investigation, Detectives determined that Ms. Freire Goncalves was last seen during the evening hours of Monday, March 10, 2025.

     This is an ongoing and active investigation, and anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Ms. Freire Goncalves is urged to contact Detective Scott Chertoff of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office at (908) 358-9162, Sergeant Nicholas Falcicchio at (908) 721-8186 or Elizabeth Police Detective Victor Arena at (908) 384-0303.
