Two Northwest Teens Charged In Second Thursday Snatch & Grab Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, both of Northwest, D.C., were taken into custody and charged in connection with a snatch-and-grab robbery that occurred during the morning hours of Thursday in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, April 24, 2025, just shortly before 8:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a robbery on the 1500 Block of 17th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by a victim that, while walking in the 1500 Block of 17th Street, they had been approached by two teenage boys when one of the teen boys snatched property from them, and then the two teens fled the area.
Responding Police Officers Apprehend Teens A Short Time Later
Based on the description provided by the victim, Responding Police Officers apprehended the teens a short distance away. Both teens were taken into custody and formally charged with Robbery. They were processed on the charges and were released to their legal guardians, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Family Division.
