Man Killed, Woman Hospitalized In Sunday Night Northeast Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred late Sunday night that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Northeast, D.C. man and left a woman hospitalized from gunshot wounds.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, April 27, 2025, shortly after 10:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on the 100 Block of 54th Street in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Man And Woman Shot Multiple Times

     Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders located a man and a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where despite life-saving efforts by doctors, the man, identified as Kevin Edwards, 28, of Northeast, D.C., succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The woman remains hospitalized and is being treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

     During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers and Detectives determined that the two were shot on the 4400 Block of Foote Street in Northeast, D.C. Detectives found t evidence of a shooting crime scene at that location.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for a suspect or suspects and a motive for the shooting.
