MORRISTOWN, NJ.- A 45-year-old former Morristown, New Jersey, man, and convicted child sexual predator will most likely be spending the rest of his life in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced last Friday to over four and a half decades in prison for the repeated sexual assaults of an 8-year-old child.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on December 6, 2024, following a three-day trial in Morris County Superior Court, a jury found Alexander Masariego-Flores, 45, formerly of Morristown, guilty of three counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault; two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; and two counts of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Superior Court Judge Sentences Marariego-Flores To 46 Years

On Friday, April 25, 2025, Masariego-Flores appeared in Morris County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Claudia R. Jones to 46 years in State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Masariego-Flores to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. In handing down the sentence, in addition to the prison term, Masariego-Flores will be required to register as a sex offender on Megan’s Law restraints and be subject to parole supervision for life.

The conviction and sentence stem from an investigation into Masariego-Flores’ repeated sexual abuse of an eight-year-old child that occurred between February and September of 2023. On September 16, 2023, the Morristown Police Department received a referral regarding the sexual abuse of a child.

During The Investigation, Detectives Uncover Sexual Assaults

An investigation into the referral was launched. During the investigation, Detectives of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit and the Morristown Police Department determined that Masariego-Flores sexually assaulted and sexually abused the child on multiple occasions between February and September 2023, at a home in Morristown, New Jersey, and one occasion sexually abused the child in front of another child.

Morris County Prosecutor Carroll commended the investigative work of the Morristown Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff’s Department, and the Morris County Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit for the investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Masariego-Flores.
