Police Charge Queens Man In Early Sunday Morning Northwest Assault

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Sunday, a 38-year-old Queens, New York, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with threatening a person with a knife and resisting arrest early Sunday morning in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at around 1:45 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a report of a man with a knife on the 1600 Block of 14th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by a victim that an unknown man approached them while in the 1600 Block of 14th Street, brandished a knife, and threatened the victim during a verbal altercation. Responding Police Officers canvassed the immediate area and located the suspect, identified as Ernesto Marquez, 38, of Queens, New York.
While attempting to place Marguez under arrest, he began resisting Police Officers. Following subduing Marquez, Police Officers formally charged him with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; and one count of Resisting Arrest. Marquez was processed on the charges and was remanded to the DC Central Detention Facility pending his first appearance in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
