Police Charge Teen In Saturday Night Maryland Avenue Stabbing

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, following an investigation, a 13-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with allegedly stabbing another teen on Maryland Avenue in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, shortly after 7:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to a report of a stabbing on the 1600 Block of Maryland Avenue in Northeast, D.C.

Police Find Teenage Boy Stabbed

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a teen boy suffering from an apparent stab wound. The boy was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Services to a nearby hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening puncture wound.

     During a swift-moving investigation, Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the stabbing. Accordingly, a 13-year-old Northeast, D.C. boy was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The teen was processed on the charge, and his custody status is currently unknown. It is unclear whether the two teens were known to each other.
