WASHINGTON, DC.- The Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a triple shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man and injured another two after gunfire erupted Tuesday night in the Petworth neighborhood in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, just shortly after 9:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District responded to the sounds of gunfire on the 800 Block of Taylor Street in Northwest, D.C. and the 3700 Block of Georgia Avenue in Northwest, D.C.
Police Officers Find Man And Teen Boy Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers found two shooting victims, a man, later identified as Zephaniah Wright, 19, of Northeast, D.C., and a 15-year-old boy, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Georgia Avenue. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported both victims to a nearby hospital, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Wright succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The teen was admitted and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Third Gunshot Victim Arrives At Hospital
A third victim, an adult male, arrived at an area hospital seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. During the initial investigation and following interviewing the victim, Detectives determined the victim was shot on Taylor Street.
